意译是指既根据原片名的词汇涵义,又结合该影片的故事情节和思想内容,并参照文化背景等因素,进行片名翻译.由于文化的差异,中英文中有许多词汇的意义不完全对应或者根本不对应,对片名翻译造成极大的困难.翻译过程中,不能一味的坚持原片名的形式,而应该采用意译法,意译法对片名进行再创造,达到与原片名意义相符、功能相似的翻译要求,帮助观众真正领会原片名的内涵.

直译是指根据原片名的词汇涵义,并参照其结构形式直接翻译出来,或者在不违背原意的前提下,略微改变原片名的词序,并保持总体上同原片名形式一致.直译法有四大优点：一是简捷易行；二是保存了原片名的格调和“洋味”；三是可求得译名与电影内容的统一美；四是有助于不断引进新鲜生动的词汇.因此,在翻译过程中,凡是能直译的应尽可能直译.
